Mission

Language Access Florida is a small consulting business focused on strengthening language justice in the state of Florida, particularly in the most vulnerable and overlooked areas of the state. Our goal is to make visible the presence and importance of language diversity in Florida by collaborating with organizations, agencies, and individuals to design and share information in the languages that represent the broad spectrum of our communities.

Services

If your company, city office, organization, educational institution, or business is looking to better serve clients who speak languages other than English in the US, Language Access Florida can help! Please contact us to develop tailored services, including:

  • Interpretation services: We can put you in touch with interpreters who work in Florida to provide interpretation services for your project or event.

  • Translation services: We can translate a wide-range of print and digital materials into the most widely used languages in Florida.

  • Interpretation and translation training: If you have employees or members of your community who would like to receive training and certification in translation or interpretation, we can develop tailored programs that meet your client’s needs.

  • Workshops: We can provide workshops regarding language access issues, including the role of language access in Florida, bias and anti-racism in language training, building trust with multilingual community members, and more.

Projects

Language Access in North Central Florida: Along with the Rural Women’s Health Project, the only health justice organization in North Central Florida, we are currently co-designing a digital and print handbook with resources, stories, and information regarding the rich linguistic diversity present in North Central Florida.

Designing Language Access in the Puget Sound: As part of a network of language activists in the Puget Sound, we are co-designing language justice resources and building a national network of language activists.

Desconferencia Internacional de Intérpretes y Traductores de Lenguas Indígenas: In collaboration with the Centro Profesional de Asesoría, Defensa, y Traducción, we recently hosted a conference that brought together over 370 Indigenous language translators and interpreters across the world to co-design a set of resources and a book focused on professional development for Indigenous language interpreters and translators.
